ADE festival report: Minus at the Powerzone
23 October 2010During ADE 2010 betribes.com will write reports of the ADE festival, yesterday Raymond visited the MINUS night at the Powerzone
The Amsterdam Dance Event without a MINUS Night would be like Amsterdam without the river Amstel. This mighty collective, by guidance of minimal hero Richie Hawtin, gave house music a new meaning. The sheer quality of its productions, highly talented dj’s and the continuous need to evolve gave MINUS fans all over the globe. This night the Dutch were in preparation for a wave of the finest minimal sounds.
A line-up showing grandmasters like Marc Houle, Magda, John Gaiser and of course Richie Hawtin equals a total sold out, big queues, and an excited atmosphere. The Powerzone was packed with dancing, flirting and open minded party people with a big weakness for minimal. In the main area Magda was playing her records with her typical timid and down to earth style. Whilst upstairs in the small area Fabrizio Maurizi got the crowd dancing with a more up tempo and open set. Marc Houle gave one of his finest live-sets ever when Richie Hawtin started his memorable closing set long exceeding initial closing time.
This MINUS Night sets the ADE-standard of quality, enthusiasm and utter musical craftsmanship. Moreover the whole MINUS crew were able to connect with their audience resulting in a merger of co understanding. Almost an transcending experience!
