ADE Next: Token, controller extraordinaire

27 August 2010

Bringing a controller to your gig isn’t a surprise these days. Spinning with vinyl is almost a gimmick or something for dinosaurs these days. And cd’s, well, that’s something for lazy dinosaurs who don’t want to carry a recordcase with them. Next to all before mentioned things Töken almost seems something from the future.

From the near future that is. Because a group of enthusiasts has created a device which makes a laptop and a controller look like an Atari 2600. And on top of it all, the Töken makes it possible for the audience to take a peek at what’s happening in the booth. How? Because the Töken is a glass touch sensitive plate used as a controller. Or as the makers call it: “a holographic screen with multitouch technology, built to enhance the DJ’s position as an MC”. All right, sounds great.

The makers of the device will be attending ADE Next. You can have a sneak peek into the future. You just have to make sure that you’re around on time. Check around every now and then to see when and where you can check out Töken.
