In the spotlight: Sugar Factory

5 August 2010

Some of the clubs in Amsterdam just breath professionalism. Everything seems well thought after, and everything seems to be there for a reason. Without trying to be an ass: Sugar Factory is just a little bit different. Not that it isn’t well thought after, but it just seems to be a bit more, well, cozy and unorganized. Like it’s there for the music and only the music.

Or maybe unorganized could better be described as something that grew from love, not something that grew from a huge business plan. The Sugar Factory only has one room – if you don’t count the smoking area as a proper room – that suits between 400 people when there's a concert to 700 people for a clubnight. It’s a not a big club, but definately a good one. More intimate is almost impossible in The Dam.

Sugar Factory is located opposite to – and working with – Melkweg. In the middle of the Leidseplein entertainment area. Just a ten minute walk from Felix Meritis. Just a sneak preview of the line up during ADE: Matias Aguayo, Michael Mayer, and Robag Whrume. The complete line-up will follow soon!
