Amsterdam: the creative capitol of The Netherlands
4 August 2010Amsterdam not only is the ‘normal’ capitol of The Netherlands, it’s also the creative capitol. And that can be traced down from the big companies that have their HQ in the Dam – like MTV – to its inhabitants. And of course, amongst them are loads of graphic designers, writers, actors, musicians, producers and dj’s.

In the future we will elaborate on this subject, by highlighting some of the people who are currently part of the creative capital of the creative capitol. It might sound like a obscure unreachable scene of some kind, but as a matter of fact Amsterdam isn’t all that big. As a result some of the more underground scenes are woven in to each other, and are actually not that obscure at all.
Amsterdam’s club scene for instance, is highly driven on this creative incrowd. Talk to a radom guy standing next to you in a club, and chances are high he’s doing something with graphic design or photography. As a result of this big creative scene the city is crowded with little galleries, often temporary, as an anti-squad solution. Those places are pretty interesting and inspiring, so be sure to visit some of them during your stay in Amsterdam. The coming weeks we’ll keep you posted about the places to visit and the artists to look out for!
