ADE is more than a conference; it's a 40 club festival as well
14 July 2010Just a conference in a scene that thrives on parties is impossible. That’s why ADE is and has always been about more than just that. Next to the daytime programme, including ADE next and the conference, there’s the night programme: the festival. And it is the festival that will turn the city of Amsterdam upside down, with artists, promoters, managers and club owners walking, cycling and driving from club to club.
This year the night programme will include 40 locations throughout the city. Usually it goes like this. People show up on the conference, then team up with people (think promoter, manager, journalist, artist) they’ve met there or known from years before, go out for some dinner across the street – or sometimes even at someone’s place – go out to get a drink, and finally arrive in one of the forty clubs that are official partners of the Amsterdam Dance Event. And then? Hotel, home or maybe even straight back to the conference.
The partners not only include the bigger clubs around town, like TrouwAmsterdam, Powerzone, Air, Bimhuis, Melkweg and Paradiso, but smaller, more underground places like OT301, NL, Winston Kingdom and the Sugar Factory as well. Special locations are Polderlicht and Foam. These locations are situated all across town, almost every one of them is inside the city ring, and easy to reach by bicycle, tram or cab. In the weeks and months leading up to ADE 2010, participating clubs will be spotlighted on this blog, so be sure to check it out.
