TrouwAmsterdam: a new label is born
2 September 2010 You probably know about TrouwAmsterdam – Trouw in short – as a club. But Trouw is branching out: they recently started a newspaper and a bookings agency, and during the ADE the Trouw label will be launched.
First international Golden Gnome Award show
27 August 2010 The both infamous and prestigious Gouden Kabouters are going global; The ennobled garden gnomes with a gold spray tan are ready to judge international festivals, clubs, Dj’s and their haircuts. Besides all the fun and craziness that surrounds the Gnomes, winning one is also quite a big deal.
ADE Next: Token, controller extraordinaire
27 August 2010 Bringing a controller to your gig isn’t a surprise these days. Spinning with vinyl is almost a gimmick or something for dinosaurs these days. And cd’s, well, that’s something for lazy dinosaurs who don’t want to carry a recordcase with them. Next to all before mentioned things Töken almost seems something from the future.
In the Spotlight: Dorian Concept
25 August 2010 It’s one of those names that doesn’t ring a bell with most people, but when you let them hear a track, they probably have some kind of “aha erlebnis”. His track Trilingual Dance Sexpierience has been played out by masses of dj’s. Sometimes in its original speed, often at -8.
In The Spotlight: Code 21
20 August 2010 This year the festival features a list of new locations. One of those new places with a festival program is Code 21 in the Reguliersdwarsstraat, just a stone’s throw away from the Leidsestraat – which connects the Kalverstraat with the Leidse Square. Anyway, the little café is a new location worth the visit.
ADE Next: Kremlin Techlabs
19 August 2010 It might sound a bit like a secret Soviet hide-out during the cold war, but it isn’t anything like that at all. Sure, there is some competition between the software developers of today’s world of producing software, but a cold war? Nope. Then why Kremlin Techlabs?
ADE Next: Q&A with Paul van Dyk
17 August 2010 Concerning the conference program, things are getting clearer and clearer every day. Now, for instance, another Q&A session is confirmed. And the person being interviewed is one of those names that will rise many an eyebrow high. For some he’s a beacon, and for some he’s the bridge they took when their interest for pop music slid to an interest for dance music.
In the spotlight: NDSM wharf
13 August 2010 People often forget about Amsterdam-North, even Amsterdam’s inhabitants. Every now and then a new location pops up from the underground, to dissolve into nothingness. But one place is booming. A place once used to assemble ships, then used by squatters as a sanctuary where they could master their arts, subsequently discovered by party people and just recently discovered by the creative upperclass.
